Announced in 2022, Pixar's 29th feature film (following 2024's Inside Out 2) will focus on an 11-year-old boy (named Elio, of course) who is inadvertently beamed up into space and is mistaken to be an ambassador for Earth on another planet. The film is directed by Madeline Sharafian (''Burrow'' Sparkshort), Domee Shi (''Bao'' short, ''Turning Red'') and Adrian Molina (co-screenwriter/co-director of ''Coco''), and produced by Mary Alice Drumm (associate producer of ''Coco'').
